About Guardian Duress Alert

In this current climate of violence and general uncertainty it appears people need to start taking action to help secure their own personal security.

Peace of mind and personal safety - yep, there's an app for that!

In the age of technology, it should come as no surprise that a smartphone application is the newest safeguard against personal assaults and home invasions.

What we've built is a simple phone application that draws on tools like GPS navigation, SMS and touch screen technology, and allows people in communities throughout the world to take extra steps to protect themselves.

The application works by sending a distress message to as many as five close friends, family members or neighbours, when switched on by the phone/tablet user. The user nominates these people to be part of their 'safety-net' when they download the app.

During activation, the app also collects GPS location information every 5 to 10 seconds, allowing emergency services to track your location if the worst should happen. These features would also render the app useful in the event of a car accident where the driver became trapped in the vehicle on a remote section or road or late at night.

The simple act of having a telephone conversation can be a deterrent for a would-be attacker. However, if your friends or family are unable to contact you, they can then escalate your distress message to police, and using your mobile phone GPS, track your location.
